General Conventions
This section mentions conventions used within the context of Edmond and these help pages.
Terms used in this documentation and their explanation
In the following, terms with a dedicated meaning within Edmond, the Edmond documentation, or the curation process, are listed and explained.
Dataset
The data in Edmond are collected in so-called datasets. Each dataset gets its own DOI. A dataset consists of files and metadata. See here for further information like versioning and accessibility of datasets.
File
A dataset in Edmond can contain one or more files. These files are considered to be the essential objects to be preserved.
Metadata
Besides the files, metadata are stored within an Edmond dataset in metadata fields. Such fields are the dataset title, the DOI of the dataset, the authors, description etc.

MPI SSO password
With that, we mean the general-purpose password which you use for services like email or MAX intranet. That password you normally use when you log in to Edmond via SSO.
